President Uhuru Kenyatta, on 10^th November, 2020 launched the revamped Nairobi Commuter Rail System at the Nairobi Central Station. The modernized railway system targets to serve up to 230,000 passengers every day; playing a significant role in de-congesting traffic in the city.

The game-changing project is part of a master plan to improve Nairobi’s transport system as a whole. The new railway system will not only improve speed and comfort for commuters but also enable them to save on work hours and have easy access to markets and resources.

Paytech is proud to be associated with this project in the provision of an Automated Fare Collection Solution. The deployed solution will go a long way in ensuring a smooth flow of passengers, streamline revenue collection and improve payment security.

The solution also includes a park and ride feature that offers commuters a fast, convenient and hassle-free way when switching from personal travel means to public transport. Moreover, the solution is designed with the traveler’s comfort and ease of use in mind. This is achieved through the provision of self-service and flexible ticketing and payment platforms.
